Temple Jeremiah Receives New Trier Township Excellence
for Service to Persons with Disabilities Award
Temple Jeremiah received this prestigious award from New
Trier Township in March, 2003. The township officially presented
the award to our congregation at its Annual Town Meeting on
Tuesday, April 8, 2003.
"Your temple was a model
for other places of worship making efforts to include persons
with disabilities," the letter from Brian Leverenz,
Community Services Administrator for New Trier Township,
reads. Temple Jeremiah was just one of a handful of organizations
to be selected for this award.
Temple Jeremiah was recognized for its building renovations
(see Sanctuary), making worship
services and programs accessible to all. Those improvements
include a handicapped-accessible bima, bathrooms,
water fountains and classrooms and installation of an elevator.
