Fern
Kamen, F.T.A. is the past president and an executive board
member of the National Association of Temple Administrators
(NATA), a national board member of the Union for Reform Judaism
(URJ), formerly known as the Union of American Hebrew Congregations
(UAHC), and past president of the Chicago Association of Temple
Administrators (CATA). She has chaired the Leadership Service
Awards and Consulting Service, a joint venture of NATA and
the URJ.
At the National Association of Temple Administrators (NATA)
Conference in Atlanta in November, 2008, Executive Director
Fern was honored for her 27 years of temple administration
and service to NATA. In addition, Fern received the Myron
E. Schoen Service to Judaism Award.
Trip to World Union for
Progressive Judaism Conference in Moscow, July 2005 -
Fern was selected to represent NATA at the 32nd World Union
for
Progressive
Judaism's
International
Conference
in Moscow.
Fern's Fellow in Temple Administration was presented at Temple
Jeremiah after her successful completion of written and oral
examinations in administration, Reform Jewish history, Hebrew
and a written dissertation. She was appointed to the faculty
of the Irwin Daniels School of Jewish Communal Service at
the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in
California where she taught beginning and advanced courses
in "Fundamentals of Synagogue Management."
She has been an active member of NATA, serving on the Constitution
Committee and the By-Laws Committee and chairing NATA conventions.
In recognition of outstanding achievement by her peers, Fern
received the prestigious "Service to NATA" award.
Fern has authored articles for the NATA Journal
as well as Reform Judaism. She has served as Executive
Director of Temple Jeremiah since 1981.

Service & Gala Oneg, June, 2009 - Fern retired in July 2009 after 28 years of
service to the Temple
Jeremiah
community.
