Just a reminder
that the library has six excellent current event periodicals
it receives on either a weekly, bimonthly or monthly basis:
Jerusalem Post (weekly), Jerusalem Report
(weekly), Chicago Jewish News (weekly), Jewish
Moment (monthly), Tikkun (bimonthly) and Commentary
(monthly). Come to the library and read one or more of your
choice.
We are planning to purchase more new books, but before doing
the actual buying, it has been suggested we publish a list
for our congregation to review in case you have the book in
your personal library and are willing to donate it to our
temple library. If this is the case, please contact me so
I can coordinate the number of copies we receive:
- A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz
- American Judaism: A History by Jonathan Sarna
- American Reform Jews: An Introduction by Dana
Evan Kaplan
- Deborah by Wendy Zwerler
- Fabulous Small Jews by Joseph Epstein
- Foiglman by Aharon Megged
- Jewish Meditation: A Practical Guide by Rabbi
Aryeh Kaplan
- Joy Comes in the Morning by Jonathan Rosen
- Natasha and Other Stories by David Bezmozgis
- Rachel Calof's Story (Jewish Homesteader on the Northern
Plains) by Rachel Calof
- Scattered Among the Peoples: The Jewish Diaspora in
Twelve Portraits by Allan Levine
- Plot Against America by Philip Roth
- Those Who Forgot the Past by Cynthia Ozick
This is just the beginning of a list of books we need. This
and additional lists of book requests will be posted in the
Covenant.
Please stop by the library. It is open during Sunday and
Hebrew School as well as during the week and offers a quiet
environment for your reading pleasure. Two computers are available
for your use. If you want to check out a book, sign your name
and date in the card in the front of the book and place it
in the yellow basket next to the computer. Return the book
within three weeks. You may renew for an additional three
weeks if no one else is waiting for the book. We operate on
the honor system.
