A Membership
Update
From Julie Ford
Our Membership
Committee strives to retain and engage the current membership
while attracting new members. To accomplish this goal, the
senior staff, in partnership with the lay leadership, provides
activities, programs, events and communications that speak
to our entire temple membership. They also assist in integrating
them into our temple community. In addition, we promote our
temple, its excellent staff and its widely varied Center
for Learning programming to the general public and host
events gear toward membership recruitment.
We have a vibrant Ambassador
Program where we pair new congregants with current members
who are active in the community. Our goal is to build a network
of friendships that keep both groups engaged. New Chavurot,
groups of households, also create smaller communities within
the temple. The Membership Committee plans social events,
i.e. neighborhood coffees, networking events, and picnics.
We often celebrate Shabbat with pre-service get-to-know-us
coffees and host Shabbat dinners and brunches for our new
members. One of the programming events we hosted in conjunction
with our other temple committees was the Jeremiah
Street Fair in May, 2007. In addition to our main membership
events, we also have a vibrant Empty
Nesters group that caters to and connects our senior members
within our Jewish community.
Our current membership is our most valued asset. We are an
extended family at Temple Jeremiah - made up of old friends
and new. Now is the time to think about extending a personal
invitation to join Temple Jeremiah to your own friends and
families so they to can share in your joy and warm feelings
about Temple. Think how enriching a membership in the same
temple would be for you and how rewarding it would be to watch
generations of your own family and your friend's families
celebrating, worshipping and having fun together.
If you are interested in joining the Membership Committee
or have names of families with whom you would like to share
the Jeremiah experience, please contact the temple
office.

Membership Brochure
A Membership Brochure is available, providing
valuable information on our clergy and staff, worship services,
programs, temple groups and other details of Temple Jeremiah
life. We want to let the community know about all Jeremiah
has to offer and are encouraging our members to spread the
word to prospective members - their neighbors, relatives and
friends. Please contact Fern
for a copy of the brochure.
We are looking for committee members to plan Neighborhood
Coffees, staff the Almond Tree Coffee Bar and host numerous
other events. Please contact Julie
Ford if you want to get involved or know someone who would.

New Members
We hold new member programs throughout the year, as well
as pay personal visits, assign Mentor Families and host an
array of opportunities for new members to volunteer and get
involved at temple. Learn about the New

Long-Time Members
We also host get-togethers to honor members who are celebrating
their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th or 30th anniversary with
the temple or longer. On January 6, 2006 the Membership Committee
sponsored a celebratory Dinner and Shabbat Service for "Milestone
Members," those celebrating their 5th, 10 or 15th anniversary.
On November 5, 2006, the Membership Committee sponsored an
Honor Breakfast

at temple and all the years in between.
