A Concert of
Jewish Music
Sunday, February 27, 2005
Featuring: The Kol Zimrah Choir (Jewish
community singers) & Cantor Amy Zussman
Presenting: Ben Steinberg's L'cha Anu
Shira
The entire community enjoyed an afternoon of Jewish music,
performed by Kol Zimrah and Cantor Amy Zussman. Kol Zimrah
is a volunteer civic chorus, representing a cross-section
of singers from the Chicao area. The mission of Kol Zimrah
is to sustain and interpret the great tradition of Jewish
choral music, serve as a musical resource for the region and
encourage the composition of new Judaic choral works.
The afternoon's program included L'cha Anu Shira,
a Sabbath evening service written by the great 21st century
Canadian composer, Ben Steinberg, and included his beautiful
composition, Shalom Rav, from our High Holy Day liturgy
and Hashkiveynu, commissioned by Temple Jeremiah
in honor of Rabbi Schreibman's retirement. |
