OSRUI

Come to Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute

Since 1952, OSRUI has offered exceptional programs for adults, families and children. Their summer camp is renowned throughout North America. Congregations in the Great Lakes Region use their facilities for weekend Kallot throughout the year. OSRUI also offers a variety of specialized programs for specific interests.

Located on Lac LaBelle, a spectacular glacial lake, OSRUI features more than 200 acres of naturally wooded areas, complemented by state-of-the-art facilities. Accommodations are offered in three buildings, all featuring double rooms with private bath, as well as dormitory-style housing. A full range of sports, arts, crafts and dance opportunities are available.

Upcoming Events for Adults:

•May 2 - 3, 2008
Jewish Discovery Shabbat

Young adults ages 25 to 40 interested in exploring and experiencing Judaism can enjoy this program at OSRUI. Experience Shabbat and Havdalah, study Torah and make new friends. Cost is $75 per person (based on double occupancy) and includes lodging, all meals from Friday Shabbat dinner through Saturday dinner and programs.

•May 16 - 18, 2008
Father & Son Kallah*

Special time at Camp for dads, granddads, uncles, and the boys they love, ages 5 to 12, led by OSRUI Director Jerry Kaye. Sample all the camp has to offer, including the fabulous Sang Sports Center, climbing wall, outdoor tennis and basketball courts. Cost is $325 per family for up to three people and $25 for each additional person and includes lodging, all meals from Shabbat dinner through Sunday brunch, as well as programs.

Hava Nashira

This songleading workshop is for those who teach or lead music in camps, congregations, and community centers. You'll improve your skills as you learn from the finest Jewish music innovators and composers.

•June 23 - July 27, 2008
Lehrhaus

Learn with rabbis and teachers of extraordinary talent while you relax on the shore of Lac La Belle. Lehrhaus features 3-night mini-courses.

Chagigah

The Midwest's annual Israeli folk dance weekend brings together dancers, teachers and leaders from around the region and the nation and features well known instructors.

NFTY Reunion

If you were in NFTY during the 60's and 70's, you won't want to miss this great opportunity to spend the weekend back at camp with your old friends from youth group.

Mother & Daughter Kallah*

Excape the hustle and bustle of work, school and family obligations while you and your daughter enjoy time together with Susan Alexander as your guide. This weekend is for mothers, grandmothers and aunts and the girls they love ages 6 to 13.

Chalutzim for Adults*

OSRUI's wildly popular Hebrew immersion summer program attracts campers from around the country. At Chaultzim for Adults, you get a taste of what those teens experience.

Family Camp*

Spend part of winter break at OSRUI. You'll enjoy all kinds of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, our indoor climbing wall, sledding (snow permitting!) and Shabbat at camp.

Summer, 2008 Activities for Campers Grades 3 - 12

If you answered yes to any of these, then OSRUI is the place for you next summer, along with over 1000 other Jewish kids from all over North America and beyond.

Kallah - The joys of camp – perfect for first-time campers entering grades 3-6 (Kallah Aleph) and 4-7 (Kallah Bet). (2 weeks) New this summer!! Kallah Atid, for campers entering grades 3-5 (5 days).

Kibbutz HaTzofim - The outdoors comes alive for campers entering grades 4-7. (2 or 4 weeks)

Gesher - Your Summer. Your Choice – for campers entering grades 7-9. (4 weeks)

Tiferet Workshop - For the young artist interested in music, dance, drama, or visual arts entering grades 6-8. (4 weeks)

Tiferet Studio - For the dedicated artist entering grades 8-10. (4 weeks)

Moshavah - Outdoor camping and adventure for campers entering grades 8 and up (Moshavah Aleph) and 9 and up (Moshavah Bet). (4 weeks)

Chalutzim - OSRUI’s unique Hebrew immersion program for high school students entering grade 10 and up. (7 weeks)

Travelin’ With OSRUI – Entering grade 10 and up. Tour La’Agam (Tour to the Lake) is a spectacular bicycle trip around Lake Michigan. Campers will bike nearly 800 miles as they travel through the upper loop of Wisconsin and Michigan, exploring the byways, forests, dunes, and the simple enormity and beauty of the lake.

OSRUI in Israel - An incredible 4-week trip to Israel with teens from all over North America.
