Join the Choir
LIKE TO SING? Then the Temple Jeremiah Adult Choir is for
you! All voice parts are welcome - bass, tenor, alto and soprano.
No musical background or Hebrew is required ... just YOU and
the desire to meet new friends, make beautiful music and have
fun. The choir is open to all adults who enjoy singing. It
is a wonderful way to get involved at Temple Jeremiah.
Very little time commitment is necessary. The choir sings
once a month at Shabbat Services, preceded by a one hour rehearsal
on Wednesday. We also sing on the various Jewish holidays,
including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
This group of vocalists, under the direction of our Organist
and Choir Director David Lornson, truly enhances our worship
services.

A Testimonial from an Adult Choir Member
God whispers through song. I'm sure of it. I
can feel a divine presence. Psalm 126:1 - 2 says, "We
are dreamers. Our mouths are filled with laughter, our tongues
with songs of joy."
One of the reasons I joined Temple Jeremiah's
Adult Choir eight years ago was because I loved to sing, especially
in the car with Ella Fitzgerald coaxing me on from my old
Toyota tape deck - a far fling from new or classical Hebrew
songs, but all I knew was I had a love for music, most any
kind. I was welcomed by choir members. I didn't have to audition.
I didn't have to be able to read Hebrew. While I could read
a musical score, I found out my husband Lee, who never knew
how to play an instrument or even knew the difference between
treble or bass clefs but had a passion for acting and song,
fit in nicely.
For me, when I sing, I become a song. I feel
close to who I am in spirit and soul. Along with these blessings,
I laugh, tease, play, work and make friends. Rabbi Karyn Kedar
says, “There is a song as you ascend toward that secret
vision of who you are.”
If I asked each of my fellow choir members why
they were interested in joining our group, each would have
a different answer. What will yours be when you join us? You
are welcome to find out.
