Empty Nesters' Spertus Museum
Trip
Our trip featured a visit to the new Spertus
Museum in Chicago. The $55 million building designed
by the Chicago-based firm, Krueck and Sexton Architects,
has elicited rave reviews and has been hailed as a must-see.
A motor coach left from Temple Jeremiah. We enjoyed
lunch at the new Wolfgang Puck Café overlooking
Grant Park, after which docents led us on a private
tour of the museum exhibits and concluded with a visit
to the museum gift shop. |

Empty Nesters' Theatre Outing
Empty
Nesters planned a trip to see "The Chalk Garden"
at Northlight Theater. This tale by Enid Bagnold, the
beloved author of National Velvet, tells what
happens when a new governess joins a household with
a troubled teenager and helps in the growth of the grandmother's
precious garden and her unruly charge. As relationships
and the garden bloom, hints of her scandalous past begin
to emerge. This was a story filled with humor and poignancy,
secrets and revelations, keen observations and delicious
wit.
