Purchase State of Israel Bonds

Purchasing bonds is a way to demonstrate your commitment and solidarity with the state of Israel. These bonds provide Israel with the funds to help build desalinization plants, launch the Tel Aviv subway, establish rail connections throughout the country, design and launch communications satellites and settle new immigrants into the country – not to mention building up the Negev and rebuilding in the north.

Israel bonds can be purchased for as little as $100. These Mazel Tov Bonds which mature in five years are great gifts for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and weddings. Various bonds are available for purchase for retirement plans too.

For additional information on how you can invest in an Israel Bond and the various denominations, contact the Chicago Region at 800-969-3987. Mention Temple Jeremiah when you call.

The Leo Baeck Education Center

The largest Reform institution in Israel, the Leo Baeck Education Center employs over 500 people and provides vital social services to over 4500 people each week. Plagued with financial losses and increased service demands since the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in 2006, Temple Jeremiah conducted a fundraising campaign to help the center remain afloat.

The Haifa Foundation

This public nonprofit charitable organization's mission is to advance educational, cultural, communal and environmental projects and to improve the quality of life for all of Haifa's residents. During the war with Hezbollah, the foundation sent many children from the Haifa area to summer camps away from danger. People can send their tax-deductible donations to: The Haifa Foundation N.A., c/o Herbert Rose, Rose & Boxer, 1065 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 410, New York, NY 10018.

Enroll Your Child in SKIP Now!

Invest in your child's Jewish future by enrolling him or her in the Send-A-Kid-To-Israel Partnership (SKIP), a savings plan that helps Chicago area youngsters visit Israel as part of their Jewish education. Young people who participate in the program for seven years (grades 3 through 9) will save up about $2000. Those funds will go toward an Israel Experience program to be used any time beginning the summer after 9th grade up until five years after high school graduation. SKIP funds are fully refundable if the child does not participate. 4200 children are curently enrolled in SKIP through over 51 participating congregations and 1625 teens and young adults have already participated in an Israel Experience program.

At the beginning of the school term in fall, you can enroll your 3rd grader or transfer your child from a previous temple (for new members) into the SKIP program. Please click on the links provided for more information:

For more information regarding Temple Jeremiah’s participation in SKIP, call 847-441-0202.
