128 people attended
the local Walk with Israel which Temple Jeremiah hosted in
honor of the 39th Annual Israel Solidarity Day. Temple Jeremiah
was founded on the principles of inclusion and Zionism. In
honor of our congregation's 50th
anniversary, this year's Walk celebrated both our birth
and support for K'lal Yisrael (all of Israel). School
children, parents, grandparents and other congregants gathered
for a 2 mile walk around the temple neighborhood.
Following the Walk, we showed our support of Israel with
Klezmer music, arts and crafts, dancing, Israeli food, carnival
games and treats. Prizes were given to the participants.
$2120 was raised from the Walk for the Jewish
United Fund's (JUF) "Supplies for Success," which
provides school supplies for families in the Kiryat Gat-Lachish-Shafir
region of Israel, 30 percent of whom live below the poverty
line.
