Sisterhood Celebrates Another Successful Year

Sisterhood celebrated the accomplishments of our wonderful board and volunteers at my house on June 9 as your continuing President. We also installed a new board of amazing women to carry on our work in the coming year. Thanks again go to my Co-President Deb Dreyfuss-Tuchman for all she has done for Sisterhood over the past two years. She has taught me a lot about leadership and I plan to lean on her as I go it alone as President this year. We also said our final farewells to Rabbi Greenberg. We will miss her deeply and wish her every success and happiness in her new endeavors.

June 19 was Area Day for local temple Sisterhoods. This year's theme, "The Women - The Wall: Taking Down Barriers and Jewish Pluralism in Israel," featured Marlene Dodinval, Great Lakes Regional Director of ARZA. Area Day is a great chance for local Sisterhood women to exchange ideas and brainstorm new ways we can work together. Area Day also reminds us that we are part of a larger community of women through the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). WRJ is the women's affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism, the central body of Reform Judaism in North America. Through our dues and fundraising, Temple Jeremiah Sisterhood supports the WRJ's work to educate and train Sisterhood and congregational leadership and to provide financial support to rabbinical students at Hebrew Union College, youth programs and programs benefiting women and children in Israel and the Former Soviet Union.

Sisterhood is deeply grateful to its members. In addition to supporting the WRJ, your dues payments support vital programs for women like the Women's Seder, Sisterhood Shabbat and Sisterhood Nights Out. They also provide financial support for temple programs such as the Youth Department, College Connection, Purim Carnival, Yom Kippur Break the Fast, Social Action Committee projects and much more. We really can (and do) accomplish so much by working together! Thank you for a great year and best wishes for a safe and soothing summer. I hope to see you around temple!
