Locks
of Love -
Salon Extravaganza
May 18, 2003
We collected ponytails of ten inches and more for "Locks
of Love", a nonprofit organization that makes hairpieces
for children suffering from complete long-term medical hair
loss allowing children to resume normal daily
activities, such as swimming and gymnastics.
Temple Jeremiah
held a "Salon Extravaganza" May
18, 2003 at our synagogue and at Heidi's Salon in Northbrook
Court to collect ponytails from parents and students donating
their hair to this worthwhile cause. Stylists from Heidi's
donated their time and talents to cut participants' hair.
Further opportunities will be available to donate hair. For
more information, contact Anne
Lidsky.

Dozens of volunteers, including many children,
patiently grew their hair in preparation for the big day. "Judaism
teaches us that we are 'partners with God' and we are here
on earth to bring good into this world. Each of us is encouraged
to reach out to others and what better way than to literally
give of ourselves. I have been blessed with thick, healthy
hair and what a great opportunity to share my 'gift' with
children through Locks of Love," commented Educational
Director Dr. Anne Lidsky.
Special thanks go to the people who organized
and coordinated this event:
Julie Becker, Adrienne Breen, Linda Crafton, Samantha Crafton-Katz, Marlene
Garfield, Marjorie Mizes and Renee Zussman.
