Selichot marks the beginning of the High Holy Day season.
To prepare for the Days of Awe, Temple Jeremiah offered a
special Selichot program, featuring dinner, discussion, Havdalah
and Selichot Service.
“On Rosh Hashanah it is written, on Yom Kippur it is
sealed ….” In preparation for 5766, we take personal
inventory, work to right the wrongs of the past year and pray
for blessings in the coming year. For the Ten Days of Awe
we engage with the Holy One as intimately as we interact with
our families and friends. But do we really know God? How have
we maintained our relationship with the Divine during the
past year? To whom are we praying when we envision the Book
of Life? Is God listening?
Participants joined in a conversation to discover the personal
in our varied relationships with God. Through text, philosophy
and personal experience, we shared avenues to the Holy for
each of us.
