A variety of activities took place in commemoration
of the Holocaust.
"Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of
the Kindertransport"
Temple Jeremiah
The Adult Education Committee presented this award-winning
documentary on the extraordinary rescue operation that transported
10,000 Jewish children from German-occupied territory to Great
Britain just before World War II.
"Memory and Hope: Chicago Children Commemorate
the Holocaust"
Lakeside Congregation,
Highland Park
This family program included choir children from Temple Jeremiah, Am Shalom,
Temple Anshe Sholom, Congregation Beth Am, Congregational B'nai Jehoshua Beth
Elohim, Emanuel Congregation, Lakeside Congregation, Congregation Solel, Congregation
Or Shalom and Temple Chai, as they joined their voices together.
Community-Wide Commemoration
North Suburban Synagogue
Beth El, Highland Park
Beth El hosted the 2004 community-wide Yom Hashoah Commemoration.
The observance featured the newly composed Megillat HaShoah
(Holocaust Scroll), as well as readings and songs in Hebrew
and English. Clergy from the North Shore, including Rabbi
Cohen and Cantor Zussman, participated, along with the Solomon
Schechter Day School Choir.
